The View From Down Here

Standard

I have a wonderfully physical eight year old son.  He is the goalie star of his soccer team, he does martial arts, and he dances ballet.  This is all very impressive, but what I’ve noticed recently is that he him tell stories with his whole body when he speaks.  Ever since I’ve started this project, I’ve experienced an increase in awareness of movement everywhere and its fascinating manifestations.  So it was with delight that I watched Aleister tell me a story tonight and noticed how the movement was coming to me differently because I was looking at him from up above. Because he is much shorter than me, I have a different perspective than if I were sitting in front of him or his same height.  The wheels began to turn and I ended up strapping my iPhone to the ceiling and experimenting with some movement filming it from above.  This video is just some snippets of this little exercise. It is kind of funny and weird and not attractive. I like it.
