Inside the Deep

Standard

Watching this video alternately moves me and makes me laugh hysterically.  But perhaps that is because I am remembering my experience of doing it which was alternately very moving and engaged and also very funny with curious onlookers not to mention the slap stick humor that arises when you are moving about ensconsed in a stretchy bag of sorts. Obviously I am not the first to do this sort of thing. It’s very Martha Graham.  But I remember when I was a young girl dancing in the Indianapolis Children’s Dance League the choreographer, Diane Gudat, had made a piece with the girls dancing in stretchy bags.  For whatever reason I wasn’t in that piece, but always wanted to be.  I suppose some part of this is belated wish fulfillment.
